If technical infeasibility is established via MIL-STD-1474 (see 5.1.1.2), or the means of reduction is too costly, the written permission of the procuring activity shall be requested to exceed the 85db(A) limit. The precautions of MIL-STD-1474 shall be provided if and only if MIL-STD-1474 (see 5.1.1.2) procedures have been pursued and documented to the satisfaction of the procuring activity (see 6.5). Hazard signs shall conform with MIL-STD-1474 (see 4.3) and be readable at the distance indicated on the sign.
3.9 Material deterioration and control.
