4.l.4 Reinspection ofconforming group Band group C sample units. Unless otherwise specified, sample units which have been subje•;ted to and passed
group B or group G inspection, or both, may be accepted on contract, provided
hat they are resubjected to and pass group A inspection after repair of all
visible damage.
l.5 Service conditions tests.
1.5.1 Temperature. The reeling machine shall be subjected to the temperature cycle ·shovn on MI1-STD-169. At te conclusion of the test, the reeling machine shall meet the requirements of 3.4.l.
1.5.2 Moisture resistance. The reeling machine shall be subjected to fifteen continuous t8-hour cycls per MI1-STD-170. Temperature, relative humidity, and period of time for each portion of the cycle shall con1'orm to the standard. After cycling has been completed, the reeling machine shall meet the requirements of 3.4.2.
1.5,3 Drop. The .reeling machine shall be dropped from a height of 30 inches on each corner for a total of 8 drops. Drops shall. be made from a quick-release hook, or pendulum tester as made by the 1.A.B. Corporation, Skaneateles, New York, or equal. The floor or barrier receiving the impact shall be of 2 inch fir
backed by oncrete or a rigid steel frame. At the conclusion of the test, the reeling machine shall meet the requirements of 3.1.3.
1.6 Operational tests.
4.6.l Qperational. The reeling machine, loaded with Spool DR-8( ), shall be cranked by hand until the t'ull. capacity of the spool is loaded vith Wire
WD-1( )/Tr. (See 6.3.) The operation of the reeling machine shall be observed
during rotation, and shall conform to 3.5.1.
4.6.2 erational life accelerated)· The reeling machine, containing
Spool DR- fully loaded with Wire WD-1( )/TT (Gee 6.3), shall be cranked
50 to 60 revolutions per minute continuously for 240 hours, consisting of ten
24-hour cycles. The cranking may be stopped for a ·period not to exceed 15 mtnutes
per 24-hour cy.r.le for lubrication. At the conclusion of the test period, the
reeling mar·hine shall be disassembled and the steel bearings and the interior
surface of their housing shall be inspected for. conformance with 3.5.2.
4.7 Interchangeability. The dimensions listed below shall be gaged or measured to determine conformance to the physical interchangeability requirement of 3.3. When a listed dimension is not within specified or design limits, it shall be considered a major defect.
(a) Cross sectional dimensions of shaft.
(b) Dimensions of bearings and bearing housing.
