4.5.2.4 Mounting.
a. Accelerate the fully loaded distributor forward from rest to 10 mph (16 Km/hr) as
quickly as possible, then apply brakes to stop suddenly. When forward motion has
stopped, immediately accelerate to 10 mph (16 Km/hr). Repeat the
forward-acceleration and sudden-stop procedure 10 consecutive times.
b. Accelerate backwards from rest to maximum reverse high range speed as quickly as
possible, then apply the brakes to stop suddenly. When reverse motion has stopped,
immediately accelerate to maximum high range reverse speed. Repeat the
reverse-acceleration and sudden-stop procedure 10 consecutive times.
c. Operate the distributor fully loaded with bitumen on primary and secondary highways
for 250 miles each, respectively.
Any breakage or permanent deformation of the mounting devices or any misalignment between
distributor and chassis shall be cause for rejection.
4.5.2.5 Electromagnetic interference. The distributor shall be tested in accordance with
3.22. The supplier shall furnish a report showing permissible interference limits and the
recorded level of interference. Nonconformance to the requirements of 3.22 shall constitute
failure of this test.
4.5.2.6 Transportability test.
4.5.2.6.1 Tiedown provisions test. The tiedown provisions shall be tested in accordance
with MIL-STD-209 to prove conformance to 3.15.1. Inability to meet the requirements of 3.15.1
shall constitute failure of this demonstration.
4.5.2.6.2 Slinging provisions test. The slinging provisions shall be tested in accordance with
MIL-STD 209 to prove conformance to 3.15.2. Inability to meet the requirements of 3.15.2 shall
constitute failure of this demonstration.
4.5.2.6.3 Air transport test. The distributor shall be tested in accordance with
MIL-STD-1791 to prove conformance to 3.15.3. Inability to meet the requirements of 3.15.3
shall constitute failure of this demonstration.
4.5.2.6.4 Rail impact test. The first article distributor shall be tested in accordance with
MIL-STD 810 to prove conformance to 3.15.4. Inability to meet the requirements of 3.15.4 shall
constitute failure of this demonstration.
4.5.2.6.5 Highway transport test. Inability to meet the requirements of 3.15.5 shall
constitute failure of this demonstration.
4.5.2.7 Noise level test. Noise levels shall be measured in accordance with MIL-STD-1474
requirements and reported in the format indicated by MIL-STD-1474, figure 7. As a minimum
noise levels shall be measured when equipment is operating under full load. MIL-STD-1474,
5.1.2.1.4 contours shall be taken at not fewer than 12 equal (horizontal) arc increments, one
